I am EJ Mathers AKA foto.graffito. I live on Wellington’s Kapiti Coast with my partner Frankie, daughter Elvira Rose and Petunia and Jasmine (the family goldfish). Being a dad ranks as one of the best jobs I have ever had.
I picked up a camera at age six and never looked back. I enjoy all facets of the medium but predominantly work within the fields of journalism/documentary, landscapes (both urban and natural) and the dying art of darkroom and silver halide alchemy. Coming from a background in print media and independent publishing, I am an outgoing person driven by creativity, challenge and caffeine. In 2012, I graduated a Diploma of Contemporary Photography from Unitec.
I still prefer film to digital.
My spare time is spent cooking, appreciating craft beer, brewing techniques and classic cocktail mixology. Always a good skill to bring to a party. I also enjoy B-grade cinema (especially old zombie movies) and spending time with friends and whanau.
